Hi, I am a member of Beraca Baptist Church. My first mission trip left me with memories that will last a lifetime! Having never traveled to Haiti before (although being of Haitian descent), I decided to try something new and participate in Beraca’s July 2018 trip to Port Salut. I felt as if God was calling me to walk away from the “busyness” of my own life and step out of my comfort zone. Fear was certainly a factor due to the state of the country at that time. However, the lessons learned completely outweighed that.
While on the field I assisted with the pharmacy, where hard
work was coupled with wonderful moments. The team was tasked with providing
patients with medicine to fit their needs. Through this work, I was able to see
that even a temporary supply of medicine could have permanent results and even save
one’s life. Seeing all that God was able to do through what this ministry had
to offer was simply amazing. I was able to walk away with a deeper level of
compassion and a fuller heart. I’m looking forward to future opportunities!
