My Journey to Haiti

By: ROBYN FREDERICKSON

I attend FBC Brewster, in Brewster, NY.  In July 2016, I, along with my husband Bill and five others from our church, had the pleasure of joining Beraca Baptist Church on a mission trip to Cape Haitian, Haiti.  That year, there were two teams that went out and held medical clinics and Vacation Bibe School, VBS.  There were hundreds of men, women and children through the medical clinics and 35-40 children each day at VBS.  I helped in the medical clinic doing blood pressures, temperatures and blood glucose to check for diabetes.  I was blessed every time someone came in.  Seeing the men, women and children so grateful just made my heart burst.

The experience I had in Haiti was beyond all I
could have ever imagined.   At first I was a little concerned about going
to a country I knew very little about and didn’t speak the language, but I knew
God was bigger than that.  Other than Haiti being a beautiful country, the
people are beautiful, as well. I knew God had us there for a reason, not only
to meet their medical needs, but spiritual needs too.  Being part of the
Beraca mission team is like being a part of their family.  I will be
forever grateful for having this experience with them.  I’m looking
forward to going on another mission trip with them in the future.
