I attend First Baptist Church (FBC) Brewster, in Brewster, NY. I had the privilege to join Beraca Baptist Church on two different mission trips. In July 2016, I joined them with my wife Robyn and others from my church on a mission trip to Cape Haitian. From the first day, I felt part of a team. I felt blessed and welcomed. During Vacation Bible School (VBS), I partnered up with Sis. Line to translate for me and share Bible stories. It was a great experience for me to have my words translated into the language that the children could understand. It was also an experience trying to teach the children how to play with a frisbee, they didn’t know what it was.
In July 2018, I joined Beraca again. This time, with my daughter Jessica and another member of my church. We went to Port Salut, Haiti. There we did medical clinics and VBS again. The medical clinic that year saw over 900 people and the VBS had over 300 children. It was such a blessing to serve along with my daughter. One of the most memorable things on this trip was having worship time with the local community. I was
in awe: worshiping the Lord together, even though we didn’t speak the same language, we worshiped the same God. What a blessing!
